Awards Night

charlotteCharlotte Kingshott took top honours at Southern Aurora’s 2007 Awards evening, Charlotte was awarded the John Norris Award for Excellence, she also collected the Most Improved Visual, Most Improved Brass and Rookie of the Year. Charlotte plays second soprano, she is a first year rookie with Aurora, who shows amazing aptitude and natural talent for drum corps, her brother Carl also received an award as most improved Battery Percussion.

The John Norris Award was awarded for the first time this year, in memory of John who we lost at the end of last year, John was the Vice Chairman and a much loved member of the corps, the trophy was presented by his wife Sandra.

jayThe other major award, the Corps Directors Award, went to Jason Pope; Jason is an Aurora vet, and a member of the Bass Drum Line, he has helped and encouraged numerous members of the line to greater things, particularly this year when the line changed so many times, he was also instrumental in solving the problem when a bass drummer was lost with a broken leg 36 hours before finals, making it difficult to spot the missing drum.
